ABOUT PORTAL 11
Roots & Vines
PoRtaL started as a dream of a regional meeting point of larpers, a place to share larp-related experiences, theory, presentations and discussions
PLAY AND PORTAL

P stands both for Play and for PoRtaL as a recursive acronym. The word portal itself symbolizes a gateway to all the different stories and worlds that we experience.

ROLEPLAYING

R stands for Roleplaying games, in which the participants assume the roles of characters and collaboratively create stories.

LARP

L stands for larp, or 'live action role play' Our diverse participative medium, in which participants embody characters and create a story collaboratively.

Roots
Let’s go back to our roots and explore where our stories come from. What are the origins of larp? What are the roots of our beautiful tree? How deep do they penetrate? What are the traditions that came before larp? Where does our inspiration come from?
Vines
The way we participate in stories may be unique, but we are not the only tree in the forest. From our branches vines, lianas and climbers reach out and connect to other trees.
What can we learn from immersive theatre? What is a theatre adventure game? How can larp be educational?

    SOCIAL MEDIA

The PoRtaL aims to explore ways to enhance and expand the possibilities of larp, as well as to include the public. The first convention was organized in Zagreb, Croatia. It was inspired by both the Nordic larp conference Knutepunkt / Knutpunkt / Knudepunkt / Solmukohta, as well as organizers’ experience with running local gaming conventions. Since then, it has been held in Budapest (Hungary), Plovdiv (Bulgaria), Kyiv (Ukraine), Athens (Greece) and Krakow (Poland)
